CheckBadges vs SafetyCulture (Mitti)

Choose SafetyCulture (Mitti) if you need a full inspection and safety platform — audits, scheduling with reminders, corrective actions, training and offline use — for a team that will all use its app, or if its 10 free seats cover you.

The short answer

CheckBadges is QR code equipment checklists: operators scan a sticker on each machine with their own phone and do its pre-use check in the browser — no app, login or per-user seat. SafetyCulture, rebranded in 2026 as Mitti (and long known for its iAuditor app), is a large inspection and operations platform where each person who does inspections uses its app with their own seat.

The biggest difference: who has to install something

SafetyCulture is an app your inspectors sign in to; CheckBadges is a sticker your operators scan. In SafetyCulture — now sold as Mitti, and known for years by its iAuditor app — each person who does an inspection uses the mobile or web app with their own seat. That works well for a safety team doing audits. It's harder for a two-shift forklift fleet, where every operator, temp and agency driver needs the app, an account and, past the free plan, a paid seat.

With CheckBadges, each machine has a printed QR sticker. The operator scans it with their phone's camera, that machine's checklist opens in the browser, and they type their name — or a 4-digit PIN, if you turn PINs on. Nothing to install, nobody to invite.

SafetyCulture is now Mitti

SafetyCulture rebranded in 2026: safetyculture.com now redirects to mitti.com, where the product is called "Mitti (by SafetyCulture)". If you're looking up SafetyCulture or iAuditor pricing, Mitti's pricing page is the one that applies. This page uses both names.

Price

SafetyCulture's free plan covers up to 10 seats and 5 active inspection templates, which suits a small team. Past 10 people, Premium is $29 a seat a month billed monthly, or $24 billed annually, according to Mitti's pricing page. A forklift fleet with 20 operators across two shifts is $580 a month ($480 on annual billing); 50 operators is $1,450 ($1,200).

CheckBadges charges per machine, not per person: free for 3 machines, then $9 a month plus $1.50 per machine after 3. Ten machines cost $19.50 a month however many operators scan them, and 25 cost $42. Mitti's pricing page also lists free guest seats; we couldn't confirm whether a guest can complete inspections, so the figures above count every operator as a seat.

Where SafetyCulture is stronger

SafetyCulture does far more than pre-use checks: audits, scheduled inspections with reminders, corrective actions, training, analytics and integrations, in an app that works offline. If you need a full safety and operations platform for a team that will all use an app, it's a strong choice.

If what you need is every machine checked before use by whoever is running it, with problems in your inbox the moment they're found, CheckBadges is the simpler fit. Start from the forklift inspection checklist or see how QR code equipment checklists work.

SafetyCulture (Mitti): what it does well, and where it falls short

Strengths

  • A huge public template library, including forklift, scissor lift and pre-start checklists.
  • Native iOS and Android apps that work offline.
  • Scheduled inspections with reminders, plus actions to assign and track corrective work.
  • Training, analytics and integrations in the same platform.
  • A free plan for up to 10 seats, from a well-known brand.

Drawbacks

  • Every operator needs the app (or web app), an account and — past 10 people — a paid seat.
  • Per-seat pricing grows with headcount: 20 operators on Premium is $580 a month billed monthly.
  • QR codes start inspections only inside the Mitti app, not from a phone's camera.
  • The free plan allows 5 active inspection templates.

What's the main difference between CheckBadges and SafetyCulture (Mitti)?

SafetyCulture, rebranded in 2026 as Mitti (and long known for its iAuditor app), is a large inspection and operations platform where each person who does inspections uses its app with their own seat. CheckBadges does one job: every machine gets a QR sticker, and operators scan it with their own phone to do that machine's pre-use check in the browser — no app, account or per-user seat — while problems email you with photos and warn the next operator.

Is SafetyCulture the same as Mitti?

Yes. In 2026 SafetyCulture rebranded as Mitti (by SafetyCulture), and safetyculture.com now redirects to mitti.com. Many people still call its inspection app iAuditor, the app's earlier name.

Is SafetyCulture free for a small team?

Its free plan covers up to 10 seats and 5 active inspection templates. Past 10 users, each person who does inspections needs a Premium seat at $29 a month billed monthly ($24 billed annually), according to Mitti's pricing page.

Can operators scan a QR code to start a SafetyCulture inspection?

Yes, inside the Mitti mobile app, which scans QR codes or barcodes on assets. Scanning with the phone's ordinary camera doesn't open an inspection without the app and a login. CheckBadges stickers open in any phone's browser.
