The short answer

CheckBadges is QR code equipment checklists: operators scan a sticker on each machine with their own phone and do its pre-use check in the browser — no app, login or per-user seat. Lumiform is a German mobile inspection and audit app with QR-triggered forms, reminders and a scheduler, licensed by user seat and now sold by quote.

How an operator does a checkScan the QR sticker on the machine with the phone's camera, answer that machine's checklist in the browser, submit. About a minute. The worker opens the Lumiform app (or, per its forklift page, a web browser), scans the QR code on the machine, completes the checklist and submits.
Does each operator need an app or login? No. No app, account or password: operators type their name, or a 4-digit PIN if you turn PINs on.Yes, as far as we could confirm: Lumiform is licensed by user seat, and a seat can log in on two mobile devices. Its forklift page mentions using a web browser, but we couldn't confirm that someone without a seat can submit.
QR codes on equipmentEvery machine gets its own printed QR sticker, 8 to a page. A lost sticker is reissued in a click.Yes: its plans list 'QR code triggers form', and its forklift page describes scanning the code on the forklift to open the checklist.
When a check finds a problemEmails you what's wrong with photos the moment it's submitted, flags the machine, and warns the next operator until it's marked fixed.Answers and photos go into the inspection report. Lumiform lists approvals, reminders and a scheduler, and its forklift page says managers are alerted when checks are missed.

The biggest difference: seats and a quote vs a sticker and a price list

Lumiform and CheckBadges both put QR codes on machines; they differ in who can use them and how you pay. Lumiform's forklift page describes the flow well: workers "open the app or web browser, scan the QR code on the forklift, complete the yes/no checklist, and submit". But Lumiform is licensed by user seat ("A user seat can be used to log in on two mobile devices"), and we couldn't confirm that a worker without a seat can submit. Its pricing is now by quote only.

CheckBadges stickers open in any phone's browser for anyone who scans them. Operators type their name, or a 4-digit PIN if you want each check signed. You pay per machine, from a published price list, with unlimited operators.

Side by side

Lumiform does more around the check; CheckBadges asks less of the person doing it:

Price

Lumiform no longer publishes prices. In October 2026 its pricing page shows Professional as "Request a quote" and Enterprise as "Individual", billed in EUR, GBP or USD, with no public free plan; the per-user prices it used to list are gone. Because Lumiform licenses by user seat, a two-shift fleet's quote will depend on how many operators need seats.

CheckBadges is free for 3 machines, then $9 a month plus $1.50 per machine after 3 — $19.50 for 10 machines, $42 for 25 and $79.50 for 50 — billed monthly with no contract.

Where Lumiform is stronger

Lumiform reminds people about missed checks, schedules inspections, works offline, collects e-signatures and supports approvals and multilingual forms. CheckBadges does none of those: its dashboard shows which machines haven't been checked today, but nothing nags anyone. If reminders and scheduling are what you need, Lumiform is worth a quote. If you need any operator to be able to check any machine from their own phone, see the forklift inspection app page or how to get operators to do pre-use checks.

Lumiform: what it does well, and where it falls short

Strengths

  • QR codes on machines that open the right form.
  • Missed-check reminders and a scheduler, which CheckBadges doesn't have.
  • Offline mode, e-signatures and approvals.
  • Analytics and multilingual forms.
  • A large template library, including forklift inspection templates.

Drawbacks

  • Licensed per user seat, so operators who do checks are likely to need seats.
  • No public prices: budgeting means a sales quote.
  • App-centric; we couldn't confirm browser submissions without a seat.
  • No refunds, according to its pricing page.
